Because you can't judge a book by its cover

Mastiff-DogJenny Carpenter is finally working towards her goal of owning and running a Bed and Breakfast but she runs into problems when the house’s previous owner shows up looking for a room before the Inn is even open in Inn at Last Chance by Hope Ramsay. Determined to open her dream Inn, she turns down Gabriel Raintree’s offer to repurchase the house from her but feels like she should allow the mysterious author to stay at the Inn despite the fact that it isn’t open for business yet.

Gabriel Raintree is the best selling author of thriller books (despite the fact that all his fans seem to be goths) who has returned home to Last Chance when he is struck with writer’s block. Not sure why he agreed to sell his dilapidated family home, Gabe decides to buy it back and to try to finally move past the shooting death of his brother when they were both in their teens. But when mysteriously strange events start happening at the Inn, will Gabe find himself living a story that could have been ripped right out of one of his novels, even more importantly, will it cost him the love he is starting to feel for Jenny?!

Inn at Last Chance is a great addition to the Last Chance series. We finally get to the heart of the mystery of the shooting death of Luke, Gabe’s brother and more about Zeph and why Zeph feels like he has to do what the ghost wants. While I always enjoy Ramsay’s books (as evidenced by how many I have reviewed and the fact that I have read the entire series) it was fun to see her take the story down a different path than she has in the past with the addition of the full on ghost and with the ghost being a character in his own right. I really like Jenny’s character, the good girl who has always been kind of overlooked it was nice to see her get her own happily ever after. Gabe was a little frustrating because it felt like he took the stupid man refusing to fall in love a little too far but redeemed himself by the end (and I love his reactions to Jenny’s redecorating of the house). As always, the meddling of the ladies of Last Chance are entertaining, especially since they always seem to get Miriam’s love predictions wrong. Inn at Last Chance is a stand alone novel but I recommend reading the entire series.

Why Ratings?
It is true you can't judge a book by its cover, you also can't judge a book's graphic content by its cover. NovelReaction's goal is to provide readers with a graphic content so they can make an informed decision regarding the books they want to read. (Also, to have a great place for people to discuss books.) So sit back, pull up a beverage, and read on!
