Because you can't judge a book by its cover

Matt Dean is on the search for the one woman he believes can save him and his brothers. In Sweet Revenge by Rebecca Zanetti, Matt and his brothers are super soldiers, raised in a military camp with only themselves to rely on. Now a chip that has been surgically implanted into their spine to keep them in line will kill them all if they don’t find a way to disable it within the next six weeks. Matt has gone undercover in the small town of Charmed to track down the scientist who he believes can save him and his brothers.  But for the first time in his life Matt finds himself distracted from his mission by a woman, Laney.

Laney Jacobs runs a bar in Charmed where she helps the locals and feels like she is part of something. When the mysterious Matt stops by looking for a job Laney knows that he has trouble written all over him, but is it just regular trouble or trouble for her heart?

Sweet Revenge by Rebecca Zanetti is the second book in the Sin Brothers series. While I enjoyed but didn’t love Forgotten Sins (read my review here), Sweet Revenge is a fabulous read about the super protective Matt. The premise for the Sin Brothers series is an interesting take on the super soldier, basically grown from a test tube, the brothers took care of each other and created their own version of a family growing up in  the tough military camp. Having broken away from the Commander who trained them, the brothers spend all their energy trying to save each other from capture by the Commander and tracking down someone who can disable their microchips before the microchips blow up, killing all of them. The relationship between the brothers is fabulous: strong, loving and tempered in fire. Sweet Revenge gives us a glimpse as to how the boys were raised and why they are so close. Zanetti did surprise me with who the scientist ended up being (I won’t share any more than that because I don’t want to spoil it for you). Laney’s character is a strong female who still has a softer side exhibited by her taking care of those who come into her bar. Sweet Revenge’s characters are dynamic, intriguing and riveting. While I think you could read Sweet Revenge without reading Forgotten Sins I do recommend that you read them in order to have a better understanding the world that Zanetti has created.

Why Ratings?
It is true you can't judge a book by its cover, you also can't judge a book's graphic content by its cover. NovelReaction's goal is to provide readers with a graphic content so they can make an informed decision regarding the books they want to read. (Also, to have a great place for people to discuss books.) So sit back, pull up a beverage, and read on!
