Because you can't judge a book by its cover

Rose McMurray has always been afraid of leaving her home at Whispering Mountain but when a friend sends her a message asking for help, Rose feels obligated go and help her. Wild Texas Rose by Jodi Thomas is the story of Rose, the oldest adopted daughter of  Teagan McMurray from Tall, Dark and Texan. Rose travels to Fort Worth to attend the wedding and quickly realizes that not everything is as it appears but she is having to find her own bravery before she can help anyone else. Luckily for Rose, Texas Ranger and adopted brother Ducan McMurray is there to help.

Duncan McMurray, known as “Duck” when he was growing up, was found after he had been living tied up for years, treated as a dog. But once the McMurrays took him he was loved and raised as a son. Rose was one of the few who could calm Duncan when he found himself in a world he didn’t understand. Now that Rose has finally left the ranch Duncan finds himself torn between helping her and finishing up the case was assigned to as a Texas Ranger.

I am a fan of the Whispering Mountain series but have to admit I didn’t finish Texas Blue so I was a little bit hesitant starting Wild Texas Rose but Jodi Thomas redeemed the series. While Rose and Duncan are the main characters there are three other story lines that are interwoven within the main story line. I quickly was invested in all three story lines, the experiences of the secondary male characters during the Civil War were heartrending, I just wanted to hug them. The interwoven story line, unexpected twists in the plot line and heartwarming characters make Wild Texas Rose a five star story. It was also nice to read a novel where the sexual tension was well done but didn’t have descriptive sex scenes.

Why Ratings?
It is true you can't judge a book by its cover, you also can't judge a book's graphic content by its cover. NovelReaction's goal is to provide readers with a graphic content so they can make an informed decision regarding the books they want to read. (Also, to have a great place for people to discuss books.) So sit back, pull up a beverage, and read on!
