Betrayal by Lee Nichols Review

Emma Vaile, in Betrayal by Lee Nichols, is confused. Shouldn’t everything be settling down since she already battled Neos? Instead of being able to finally live a somewhat normal life, things are just getting crazier! Her soul mate, Bennett Stern, has disappeared and has started taking a dangerous drug. Emma and Natalie are joined at the museum by two new ghostkeepers, Simon and Lukas, to form a new team. Instead of only worrying about school work, every afternoon is filled with intense ghostkeeper training based on each person’s individual skill. To top it all off, something inside of Emma causes her to freeze up whenever there are wraiths or other dangerous things they are supposed to be fighting. As they struggle to stay one step ahead of Neos, he seems to know exactly where they are and what they’re doing at all times. Could there be a traitor at the museum?

This book was an amazing sequel to Deception! I loved how quickly the plot moved forward and how many twists and turns it contained. I really liked all of the characters in this book and it was interesting how each character impacted Emma’s decisions. It was fascinating to see Emma grow and change based on her various experiences she goes through. She is a very strong character and it is fun to watch her progress through the novel. It was a very gripping story and I couldn’t put it down until I had finished it!
