Because you can't judge a book by its cover

Louise loves fashion especially vintage.  In The Time Traveling Fashionista by Bianca Turetsky, Louise receives an odd invitation to an exclusive trunk show of vintage clothing and knowing there are treasures to be found Louise makes plans to be there.  At the show Louise is attended by two odd ladies who seemed more vintage than any of the dresses.  Louise is drawn to a beautiful gown from the early 1900′s and as she is trying it on something strange happens.  She is transported to another time on board a luxurious ship.  Louise finds out that she is now Alice Baxter famous actress from the same era as the dress Louise is wearing.  Louise is caught up in the luxury of having a maid, and new friend, anything she wants she can have and her closet is amazing!  All her dreams our interrupted when Louise finds out she is aboard the famous ship Titanic.  Knowing what will happen Louise tries to change history and save those on board.  Will she be able to?

I liked the idea of this novel.  A dress that takes you back in time to the horrific event of the Titanic is quite interesting.  The author was too stuck on the fashion and not the story that it was hard to care for the characters.  It had beautiful illustrations of the outfits Louise wears but if the author would have put as much effort into Louise herself the story would have been great!  I also think Louise was a bit young to be thrown into a scenario that extreme.  Being thirteen and transplanted into the body of a eighteen year old was a little weird for Louise and me.  If you like fashion I would check this book out for the wonderful illustrations and fashion descriptions.

Why Ratings?
It is true you can't judge a book by its cover, you also can't judge a book's graphic content by its cover. NovelReaction's goal is to provide readers with a graphic content so they can make an informed decision regarding the books they want to read. (Also, to have a great place for people to discuss books.) So sit back, pull up a beverage, and read on!
