Against the Storm by Kat Martin Review

Maggie O’Connell made a mistake in her teens and she is still paying for that mistake. Against the Storm by Kat Martin, Maggie is being threatened but the police aren’t taking the threats seriously so Maggie is forced to seek outside help to protect herself.

Trace Rawlins has a weakness for redheads and when redheaded Maggie shows up in his office, Trace wonders if Maggie is telling him the full truth or just using him as he has been used by redheads in the past. As the relationship between Trace and Maggie turns more personal, Trace wonders if he can trust his own judgment when it comes to this compelling woman.

Against the Storm by Kat Martin is the fourth book in the The Raines of Wind Canyon series. Trace is one of the guys who stepped in to help in Against the Law (you can read my review here). Maggie was an interesting character, she made a large mistake in her teens that is still impacting her life today (and no, it is not a pregnancy). I have enjoyed all of Kat Martin’s Raines books and Against the Storm does not disappoint. The characters from the previous series novels play a very minor role is this story. This was one of those novels where I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it, it was an enjoyable read that would be worth a one time read through but won’t be making it into my reread yearly pile.
