Welcome to Last Chance by Hope Ramsay Review

Jane is convinced that with a name like Last Chance the town can only change her life around. In Welcome To Last Chance by Hope Ramsay, Jane uses the last of her money to buy a one way bus ticket to Last Chance, desperate to leave her bad luck and bad choices behind her.  Instead of waiting for a white knight who always turn out to be a weasel to save her, this time Jane is going to do it herself, but then she meets Clay Stone and is tempted to let him sweep her off her feet. As the past choices Jane has made start to catch up with Jane starts to wonder if the Universe is against her and she if she is destined to be alone and miserable for the rest of her life or if she can finally save herself in a town called Last Chance.

Clay Stone has returned home after his last girlfriend ‘just wanted to be friends’ after he came to her rescue. But home is not the safe retreat he thought he would get, first he has to deal with his feelings of guilt and responsibility to several people in the community, then in walks Jane who looks in need of a white knight but Clay has sworn off being anyone’s hero as it always ends with someone else getting the girl and his heart getting broken. But there is something about Jane that he can’t resist and finds himself drawn to her even as he tries to deal with everything else in his life. But as events unfold and he realizes that Jane might not be who he thought she was, can he trust his heart or his head when it comes to her?

I really enjoyed this book! I flew through it in about one morning. Jane’s decision to picture her life as she wants it to be and then go after it despite all of the bad things that catch up to her made me love her and relate to her. Clay’s need to be a white knight warring with his own emotional battles was touching and made me just want to hug him but the characters that really made this book were all the locals of Last Chance.  Jane gets a job at the Clip ‘n Curl working for Clay’s mother and the funny gossipy old ladies were a riot. But what really made me giggle was the fact that Clay’s father runs the Golfing with God miniature golf park complete with ark and live animals.  Ramsay’s characters were endearing and lovable and I eagerly look forward to the rest of the Stone children’s stories.
