Because you can't judge a book by its cover

The contest is on for the cupids to become Senior Cupids, only one will be promoted and this cupid has his hands full with a difficult couple. The question is can he get them together in time for the promotion or are these two souls destined to be apart forever?

Kole Trillion has a good life, she is a white witch with a booming business of selling her potions and spells and a black cat familiar named Boo, but then Detective Gage Corwin intrudes his way into her life. Love Potion No. 2-14 by Pepper O’Neal is part of the Cupids Gone Wild Series with cupid having to work overtime to bring together Kole and Gage. Detective Gage is convinced that Kole is a con-artist taking advantage of the foolhardy and unwise. As Gage continues to pursue his investigation he starts to wonder if he is really trying to catch Kole doing something wrong or if he is just looking for an excuse to spend time with her.

Love Potion No. 2-14 is a cute fun read. Gage’s hard-headiness and dogged pursuit of Kole is entertaining. Kole is just trying to run her business and help people, while she does consider slipping Gage one of her love potions her own moral code won’t let her, no matter how tempting. Kole also realizes that that her love potions, even her most powerful No. 2-14, will only get Gage to act on feelings he already has and Kole is afraid Gage only feels contempt. Gage’s complete refusal to see why he is trying so hard to catch Kole is amusing. I loved Boo’s involvement in the relationship, making things more difficult for Kole. Each section starts off with cupid writing a report to the Senior Cupid on his progress, giving an interesting almost clinical twist to a traditional love story. The novel is short, I was able to read the entire thing in one sitting and was amused the whole time.

    Hi Jessica,

Thanks for sharing the story! I enjoyed hearing your take on it. I confess with how busy I have been I am enjoying shorter reads lately. That or I find myself re-reading. Always good to hear what you have to say about a book.

Why Ratings?
It is true you can't judge a book by its cover, you also can't judge a book's graphic content by its cover. NovelReaction's goal is to provide readers with a graphic content so they can make an informed decision regarding the books they want to read. (Also, to have a great place for people to discuss books.) So sit back, pull up a beverage, and read on!

*I am rating a specific book by an author, not the author's style. If I am aware an author writes a specific way, I will let you know.
