Summer Reads

The weather is finally starting to warm up and if you are like me, you are in the process of getting ready and/or planning for the summer vacations.  Of course, in thinking about summer vacations I always starting thinking about what I am going to read for the summer. When I think of summer reads, I always picture paperback books that are slightly warped from a little water getting on them, edges crinkled from sitting in the sun and being stuffed into a tote with the other 50 essential items for vacation that I can’t seem to leave home without.

I have to admit for me a true summer read is something light, fun, funny and with a happy ending.  I know there our others out there who want a book about a journey or some kind of great growth by the main characters, but I just want something that doesn’t require a lot of focus, just a good fun entertainment.

However, by the end of summer I have usually had my feel of the light reads and I am ready for something with a bit more teeth to it.  Something along the lines of a non-fiction or a good fiction books, of course, then school starts and I am ready for light reads to counter the heavy homework reading.

This summer, for me, is starting off with a bunch of YA novels because June’s theme here at Novel Reaction is YA novels.  I am super excited to share some of my favorites and some of the new ones I received from the Book Bloggers and Publisher’s Conference I attended, you can read which ones I will be reviewing here.

So what do you like to read over the summer months?   Do you have any favorites that I need to read? Let me know what you think! Joe Looney Authentic Jersey

Online Book Club

How many of us love books clubs but don’t have the time to meet for several hours (because it always seems to take several hours when you go in person) to discuss the book, or we have children that we have to arrange a sitter for (which at times we wonder if it is worth the hassle)? Well, we have the solution for you!  Join us this Saturday for our first online book club. I am super excited to be one of the panelist to discuss this book, it is going to be live and we will be taking phone calls from you to discuss Hearts at Stake by Alyxandra Harvey.  On Saturday there will be a link my site for you to listen live.

From the Publisher:

Watch out, Buffy! A reluctant vampire princess takes on all comers in an action-packed, romantic, and snarky addition to this red-hot genre

On Solange’s sixteenth birthday, she is going to wake up dead. As if that’s not bad enough, she also has to outwit her seven overprotective older brothers, avoid the politics involved with being the only daughter born to an ancient vampire dynasty, and elude Kieran Black—agent of an anti-vampire league who is searching for his father’s killer and is intent on staking Solange and her entire family.

Luckily she has her own secret weapon—her human best friend Lucy—who is willing to defend Solange’s right to a normal life, whether she’s being smothered by her well-intentioned brothers or abducted by a power-hungry queen. Two unlikely alliances are formed in a race to save Solange’s eternal life—Lucy and Solange’s brother Nicholas, and Solange and Kieran Black—in a dual romance that is guaranteed to jump start any romance-lover’s heart.

So pick up the book and join us Saturday, May 15th at 10:00 Phoenix time to discuss Hearts at Stake. Bob Griese Womens Jersey

School Woes

I am sure we have all had days were we have felt like this, for me it has been the past two weeks as I have been preparing for and taking finals.  Fortunately the end is in sight and I will be free Wednesday at noon, unfortunately that doesn’t leave me much time to post this week.

That being said, I thought I would give you all a heads up for the next coming months.  I am so excited to be able to dedicate some focus to some fun things with this site!

The end of this month we will have our second books-to-movie challenge with Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen.

Starting in June I am going to go with a theme for the month, where we look at different genres so look forward to young adult, historical, contemporary and other genres.

September will be the one year Blogaversary of Novel Reaction, so lots of giveaways and party fun.

Of course during all this we will have book reviews, author visits and giveaways so stay tuned and continue reading! Danny Green Authentic Jersey
