Tales from the Treasure Trove Vol II

Tales from the Treasure Trove Volume II, Jewels of the Quill Anthology, Garnet Lake (Troubled Waters Series, Book 2) {romantic suspense} by Liz Hunter (Dame Garnet): The Turquoise Cat (North of Nonesuch Series, Book 1) {paranormal romance} by Jane Toombs (Dame Turquoise): For the Love of Sapphire {American historical} by Nancy Pirri (Dame Sapphire): The Amethyst Star {futuristic romance} by Karen Wiesner (Dame Amethyst): Heart of Obsidian (Angels On Patrol Series, Book 2) {paranormal romantic comedy} by Michele Bardsley (Dame Obsidian): Misbehavin’ in Moonstone (A Mischief in Moonstone Story, Book 2) {humorous romantic mystery} by Christine DeSmet (Dame Moonstone).

Garnet Lake by Liz Hunter (Dame Garnet):  LeeAnn Armstrong is struggling and returns to her grandmother’s lake house after losing her job of 12 years to try to decide what she is going to do now that her grandmother has passed away.  Deciding to remodel the house, LeAnn meets up with Mike Hastings, the one man she has never forgotten.  Mike has returned to the lake to deal with the death of his wife and two children.

I enjoyed the characters in this story, I felt their pain and could easily relate to their feelings.  I liked their journey and the mystery involved was great.

For the Love of Sapphire by Nancy Pirri (Dame Sapphire): Sapphire Jameson once let the opinions of others ruin her relationship with her fiancee. Her brother George has run up a large gambling debt and begs Sapphire to come pay the debt in full.  Sapphire leaves everything she knows to save her one remaining family member even though she knows she will meet up with Patrick again.  Being in debt to her ex-fiancee is the hardest thing Sapphire has ever done, and then she meets his motherless twin boys and realizes that leaving them will be even harder. Patrick hopes this second chance to interact with Sapphire leads to the happy ending he has always wanted.

Sapphire’s love for her brother and willingness to admit she has made mistakes in the past made her lovable and the mischievous twins were adorable! I also really enjoy historical stories set in America during the turn of the century, the busyness and the optimism that permeates the lives of the individuals that existed then is uplifting and contagious.

Like all anthologies I really enjoyed several of the stories and not so much some of the others.  This collection was no different, if you are looking for a good exposure to different types of stories and different authors this collection is for you.

Why Ratings?
It is true you can't judge a book by its cover, you also can't judge a book's graphic content by its cover. NovelReaction's goal is to provide readers with a graphic content so they can make an informed decision regarding the books they want to read. (Also, to have a great place for people to discuss books.) So sit back, pull up a beverage, and read on!
